Welcome Infant and Toddler Advocates
Babies and toddlers have unique needs. And it is these first years of life that form the foundation for a child’s full potential.
With that in mind, through the reauthorization of the Head Start Act, Congress required each state to have its own Infant Toddler Specialist with expertise in this area. The State Based T/TA Office has employed this Infant Toddler Specialist that represents this developmental period and respective best practices and policies. More specifically the State Infant Toddler Specialist for Iowa supports Head Start and Early Head Start grantees and other Infant Toddler early care and education entities. This includes:
· Addressing specific State Head Start/Early Head Start and Early Childhood
education issues
· Promoting partnerships between Head Start agencies and other State and local
· Organizations to enhance Head Start program quality
· Supporting national initiatives
· Identifying resources and organizations for the provision of in-kind services to Head Start and Early Head Start agencies with Iowa
· Participating in national, Office of Head Start Regional, or State-sponsored meetings, and
· Identifying common grantee T/TA needs within Iowa.
The State Based T/TA Office works closely with the Iowa Department of Education Collaboration Office and us, the Iowa Head Start Association.
